FishRadar regulations are summaries for informational purposes only. Thailand does not require a recreational licence for rod-and-line fishing in public waters, but rules vary by location and can change. ALL fishing is PROHIBITED inside Thailand's marine national parks (administered by the Department of National Parks); fines are charged per person aboard the vessel. Protected and reserved species (whale shark, sawfishes, manta and devil rays, marine turtles, dugong and the wild Mekong giant catfish) may never be taken under the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019). Area and gear restrictions apply under the Royal Ordinance on Fisheries B.E. 2558 (2015). Always verify current rules with the Department of Fisheries (and the Department of National Parks for protected-area waters) before fishing — FishRadar is not a legal source.
