Regulamentos locais
Todas as espécies combinadas
- máximo de 3 kg no total por dia — THIS APPLIES INSIDE THE AMP "ISOLE EGADI", WHICH IS WHERE FISHRADAR'S EGADI HOTSPOT SITS. The archipelago-wide rules, from the 2010 regulation as supplemented by the 2026 disciplinare: breath-hold spearfishing is banned throughout the entire marine protected area; taking or catching sea urchins (Paracentrotus lividus) is banned throughout the entire marine protected area, for everyone, under the precautionary principle; and where recreational fishing IS allowed the cumulative daily take is at most 5 kg per boat and 3 kg per person, except for a single fish of greater weight. By zone: ZONE A (the west coast of Marettimo between Punta Mugnone and Punta Libeccio, and the sea around the Maraone islet) is closed to all sport fishing and you may not even carry or transport spearfishing gear there. ZONES B and C are open only with a written authorisation from the ente gestore, and the 2026 disciplinare states that in zone B sport fishing is not permitted to anyone who is not a resident of, or a house-owner in, the comune of Favignana for at least 5 years. ZONE D — the open water between Favignana/Levanzo and Marettimo, which is where FishRadar's hotspot at 37.95 / 12.20 lies — is open to sport fishing with the same gear and the same 5 kg/3 kg ceiling, again only with the ente gestore's authorisation. Permitted gear is tightly listed: from shore at most 2 fixed or casting rods or a line with at most 2 hooks; from a boat a bolentino with at most 2 hooks, at most 2 trolling lines, at most 2 cephalopod lines, at most 3 people fishing; downriggers, monel/lead-core trolling, vertical jigging and non-Mediterranean baits (Korean, Spanish, Japanese worms) are all forbidden; under-12s only with an authorised adult. WARNING FOR RE-VERIFIERS: the AMP's own public "Zonazione" web page still says sea urchins may be taken by residents with authorisation. The 2026 disciplinare is later and stricter and it wins; the web page is stale.
- máximo de 5 kg no total por dia — FIVE KILOGRAMS A DAY, ACROSS EVERYTHING — fish, molluscs and crustaceans combined, not per species. One single fish heavier than the cap is excluded, so a 6 kg amberjack is lawful on its own but nothing else may be added to it. SEPARATELY AND ON TOP: no more than ONE GROUPER PER DAY, of any Epinephelus or Polyprion species, whatever its size — the national minimum for cernia is 45 cm (art. 87) and the EU Mediterranean MCRS is 45 cm, but the one-fish rule bites first. Competition anglers taking part in an authorised manifestazione sportiva are exempt from the 5 kg cap and the one-grouper rule under article 144. These are NATIONAL rules and they apply in every Italian sea, including inside the regions that publish their own rulebooks: in Liguria, Sicilia and Sardegna they stack with the regional and marine-protected-area caps, and the stricter one governs — the AMP Cinque Terre allows 2 kg per person, the AMP Portofino and the AMP Isole Egadi 3 kg per person, all well below this 5 kg. Permitted recreational gear is fixed by article 138 (coppo, giacchio, rods of at most 3 hooks, correntine of at most 6 hooks, traina, parangali, nasse) and article 140 caps it at 5 rods per angler, 200 longline hooks per boat and 2 pots per boat.
Licenciamento:
- saltwater-recreational — residentes SICILY REQUIRES NO REGIONAL SEA-FISHING LICENCE, and that is a decision rather than an omission: a regional licence for recreational and sport sea fishing from a boat and underwater was proposed and was removed from the regional bill before it was enacted as legge regionale 20 giugno 2019, n. 9. Recreational sea fishing in Sicilian waters therefore runs entirely on the Italian national regime — the free MASAF registration and D.P.R. 2 ottobre 1968 n. 1639 — which FishRadar carries in its Italian national pack, not here. INSIDE A MARINE PROTECTED AREA this is reversed: there you need a written authorisation from the ente gestore, and in several zones you cannot get one unless you are a long-standing resident. See aggregateLimits., não residentes Same for visitors at sea. Inside a marine protected area, residency in the AMP comuni is itself a condition for some permits — a visitor to the Egadi cannot fish zone B at all, whatever they pay.
- freshwater-recreational — residentes Inland waters are the one place Sicily does license anglers, and it is done at ex-provincial level: the Liberi Consorzi Comunali (former province authorities) issue the "licenza di pesca nelle acque interne" of type B together with a tesserino di regolamentazione, against payment of the Sicilian regional government-concession tax. Application is per province, to the competent Ufficio pesca. FishRadar has no inland Sicilian hotspot, so this rule is recorded for completeness rather than to answer a live question., não residentes Same procedure. Fees and the exact documentation differ between the Liberi Consorzi; contact the Ufficio pesca of the consorzio whose water you intend to fish.
- saltwater-recreational — residentes No paid licence for recreational sea fishing, but a free annual registration with MASAF (the "comunicazione di esercizio della pesca sportiva/ricreativa in mare", or census) is mandatory. From May 2026 anglers aged 16+ must complete the census and use the RecFishing app., não residentes Same free MASAF registration applies to non-residents fishing recreationally in Italian waters.
- freshwater-recreational — residentes Inland/freshwater fishing licences are issued by each Region (Regione), not nationally; fees and rules vary by region., não residentes Non-residents need the relevant regional freshwater licence for lakes and rivers.
Sicily sets NO regional bag limit, minimum size, closed season or species ban for recreational sea fishing — a regional sea-angling licence was proposed and dropped before the 2019 regional fisheries law was passed, so at sea the rules that bind you are Italian national ones (free MASAF registration, 5 kg a day, one grouper a day, national and EU minimum sizes), which FishRadar shows on the Italy panel. FishRadar publishes no Sicilian species figures because there are none to publish, and inventing them would be worse than silence. What IS different in Sicily is inside the seven marine protected areas: Isole Egadi, Capo Gallo - Isola delle Femmine, Isola di Ustica, Isole Ciclopi, Isole Pelagie, Plemmirio and Capo Milazzo. There, recreational fishing needs a written authorisation from the managing body, is banned outright in the integral-reserve zones, is in several zones reserved to long-standing residents of the local comuni, is capped well below the national 5 kg, and breath-hold spearfishing is banned across whole areas. The Aeolian Islands are NOT a marine protected area. Inland waters need a licence issued by the Libero Consorzio Comunale. Marine protected-area rules are re-issued every year — check the ente gestore before you fish.
