In addition, a Fischereierlaubnisschein for the specific water is required — the Fischereischein alone does not entitle you to fish anywhere. Both must be carried. Several Bundesländer issue a short-term Touristenfischereischein or Urlauberfischereischein without the examination — Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg among them — but not all do, and the conditions differ. Check the Land you intend to fish in before travelling.

The only figures shown here are EU minimum conservation reference sizes, which apply at sea. You need both a Fischereischein and a water-specific Fischereierlaubnisschein to fish.
